The Role of Hope in Your Relationship

We often receive calls from people saying things like “Our marriage is hanging by a thread;” or “We just want to be able to say we gave it our best shot before calling it quits.” The discouragement is palpable. Hope for the future of their relationship has all but disappeared.

That’s where we come in. When you’re discouraged, we can help you find new, untried ways to move forward. We’ve been studying relationship dynamics for years, and we have the experience and expertise to help.

Infidelity

Recovering from infidelity is challenging; both partners are likely to experience a roller coaster of emotions that need outside help before recovery can begin. A relationship therapist can help navigate the conversations and behaviors that will be necessary to rebuild trust and move forward from a betrayal.

Trust

Learning to trust again after a betrayal is a challenging process that requires action. Both partners need to discuss their feelings without fear of blame, judgment, criticism, or contempt. Dealing with a lack of trust takes the expertise of a trained therapist who can facilitate the healing process.

Communication

Our Winter Springs couples therapists can provide you with the tools and skills that can encourage open communication and promote mutual understanding. The long-term goal is for you to master the skills necessary to navigate your differences with minimal friction and feel more resolved as you move forward.

Intimacy

When a couple presents with a desire to be more intimate, they are often trying to return to a closeness they once had but are now missing.  Our counselors can help you reawaken that connection, emotionally and physically.

Evidence-Based Marriage Counseling

We base our counseling methods on the most recent research available. While much of our work draws from the findings of Drs. John and Julie Gottman, we also lean heavily on the research of thought leaders like Dr. Peter Levine, Dr. Stephen Porges, and Dr. Brene Brown.

If you are new to the world of counseling psychology, a lot has happened in the past 20 years. Advances in neuroscience are revolutionizing our understanding of the brain and how it works. And therapists are now able to apply this knowledge to real life, bringing relationship changing results more than ever before. At Positive Steps, we take pride in bringing the best, most proven therapeutic methods to our clients.

So even if you are feeling discouraged about your relationship right now, there is hope. We can help.

Winter Springs Marriage Counselors

Every couple is different, so our Winter Springs marriage counselors take the time to delve into the current state of your relationship, your history together, and your individual histories. Our process begins by first meeting both partners; then, we meet each person individually.

Then we ask you to take one or more objective assessments that will give us insight into the details of your relationship that may not have surfaced during our discussion. A thorough understanding of your relationship’s current and past state helps us develop a personalized plan, which we will share with you at the start of your second couples appointment. Our plan will capture your goals, how we will work to achieve them, and how long it may take before you start to see results.
